| SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION |
 |
 |
|
In addition to SEO companies, there are many search engine
submission companies which try to gain business through claiming to submit a
site to 1000s of search engines. Unfortunately, these companies fail to disclose that it is essential to
first optimize a site before the search engine submission process. In many cases, a search engine or directory will not index a site
until it meets certain criteria. Furthermore, these submission companies use programs that automate the
search engine submission process.
Because search engines and directories often change their submission criteria, it is important
to submit pages by hand; making sure to follow the most current
regulations. Also, there are usually
less than 15 search engines and directories which are important to most
sites.
Because the search engines have to “crawl” so many pages,
the length of time needed for search engines to index submitted pages can
vary. On average, it takes the main
search engines 6-12 weeks to index a site (although in some cases one can pay
for expedited review). Search engine submission should be repeated at least every couple months.
